about the project
I created two interactive applications now running on multiple Hapag-Lloyd cruise ships for educational purposes to the passengers. The installations explain how plate tectonics form our planet, illustrate our ocean layers and draw attention to the microplastics covering the ocean ground. The project was conducted in cooperation with MGP ErlebnisRaumDesign in Hamburg, Germany.
what I did
My tasks ranged from familiarizing myself with the scientific topics, conceptualizing how the topics shall be communicated, designing the interface and finally programming the applications. In doing so, I coordinated with a scientist from the GEOMAR institute, the CEO of MGP, as well as engineers and programmers from Intermediate Engineering. The application ‘our ocean layers’ is implemented with Unity, a runtime and development environment for games based on C#. The second program ‘earth in motion’ is implemented with HTML/CSS/JS.
